Plasma skin resurfacing represents the new gold standard for deep and
durable skin rejuvenation. The level of skin rejuvenation is profound,
eliminating years of sun damage in one session, including wrinkles
(both fine and deep), pigmentary problems, and uneven texture and tone.
Unlike the other laser and light therapies that are offered at Luminaire,
plasma skin resurfacing requires about a week of downtime and is undertaken
by Dr. Lam in his surgical suite under mild to moderate sedation for optimal
patient comfort. Different from the older carbon-dioxide laser that
left individuals red for several months and ultimately white over a period
of months to years, plasma resurfacing provides comparable skin rejuvenation
to carbon-dioxide laser without the downtime or risk of skin color loss.
Dr. Lam oftentimes combines this type of skin rejuvenation with other
procedures that also require some downtime like fat grafting and facelifting
for maximal and global facial rejuvenation.
Plasma skin resurfacing represents an entirely new technology that is
different from standard laser and light therapies. Nitrogen gas
is excited with high-energy frequency to heat the skin and to provide
not only a superficial rejuvenation but also a very deep skin rejuvenation
that favorably changes the skin architecture. The collagen growth
occurs immediately after the procedure but continues to improve over a
period of a year. Also unlike the aggressive older carbon-dioxide
laser technologies, the old skin remains intact for several days before
gradually falling away thereby limiting recovery to about a week and also
eliminating any discomfort after the procedure. |
