Cheek and Chin Enhancement Photo Galleries
This section refers to structural enhancement of the face with cheek and chin implants made of conforming solid silicone implants. Dr. Lam believes that too many cheek implants are performed unnecessarily and to the detriment of the patient. After 30 years of age, as the individual continues to lose fat in the upper cheek and expose the bone, a cheek implant can actually make the face look bonier and older, the opposite of the intended effect. In addition, the surrounding areas can look hollower. Therefore, he does not believe in cheek implants for facial rejuvenation in most cases. Instead he prefers facial fat transfer to achieve that objective. However, in individuals with a deficient chin or recessive chin, nothing works as well as a chin implant to create a stronger, more defined profile. In individuals who just lose some chin projection with aging, Dr. Lam still believes that fat transfer provides the best rejuvenation. But in individuals with very weak chins, a chin implant is preferred. At times, he combines both procedures since the chin implant only addresses the bottom half of the chin area, whereas fat transfer addresses the upper half of the chin, the region near the lower lip.
