Asian Double Eyelid Blepharoplasty Photo Gallery

Asian blepharoplasty is also known as the "double eyelid" procedure, in which a crease is created along the upper eyelid so as to open the eye making it appear less narrow and also facilitating upper-eyelid makeup application. Dr. Lam believes in creating only natural appearing Asian eyelids. The very high arched crease with excessive fat removed does not make an Asian appear white so much as make one look like an alien. He believes that only natural results that are ethnically sensitive are acceptable and WILL NOT perform high creases in Asians. In fact, he believes this kind of look is very unattractive in Caucasians who have had a standard upper eyelid procedure performed making them look equally bad. He does not perform many epicanthoplasty procedures today as he believes that erasing one's ethnic identity is an unfavorable pursuit. There are two considerations when deciding on Asian eyelid enhancement: an oval crease that has a slight flare or a round crease that is relatively uniform in height throughout. Also, an inside fold ends inside the epicanthus toward the nose, whereas the outside fold ends parallel and above the epicanthus. In most cases, Dr. Lam prefers a slight oval and slight inside fold but can accommodate another style based on patient request and consultation.
