The solid silicone implant led to problems of encapsulation (like a breast implant) with visible edges, infection, downward shifting, and color changes to the skin. He has been using Gore-Tex sheets that are much thinner, lighter, opaque, and more pliable for the bridge of the nose (as opposed to solid Gore-Tex blocks). Since Gore stopped making Gore-Tex a couple of years ago, he has been using in his opinion an even better version of Gore-Tex manufactured by Surgiform. For the nasal tip, he prefers your own cartilage to create the proper tip definition and shape.
