Okay, finally, I have posted the Deion Sanders segment from his show,Prime Time Love, on the Oxygen Channel in the press videos section of this website.  The segment is pretty funny! 

I heard that Emina and I were finally on the Deion Sanders show last week.  Emina was called “Demina”, which is her new nickname at work.  Unfortunately, I missed the segment but I should have it posted once I get it sent to me within a few days.  I heard that the segment was pretty funny.  We have a good time at work every day so just wanted to have a little fun with this photo montage.

There is a great article in the Hair Transplant Forum International (a journal read by hair transplant surgeons who are a member of the ISHRS) entitled “Medical treatment of hairline and temple points”.  In this article, the manufacturers comments are discussed for Rogaine and Propecia.  Specifically, for Propecia, “There is not sufficient evidence that Propecia works for receding hairlines at the temples” according to Merck.  Also, McNeil PPC states for Rogaine:  ”Use:  to regrow hair on the top of the scalp, vertex only…5% minoxidil topical foam is not intended for frontal baldness or receding hairline”.  THESE STATEMENTS ARE WRONG.  Originally, the studies in the late 90s were focused on the vertex (crown) region.  Subsequent studies have proven the benefit (and these are large studies:  check out my medical solutions section of this website for details) of these FDA approved medications in the front of the scalp.  If anything, look at our extensive before and after gallery of individuals who have ONLY received medical management and the improvements that they have attained in the frontal and temporal region.  Enough said.

I have done some videos on this subject before but felt motivated to reiterate a couple of points that I think are worthwhile.  Like anything in life that is worthwhile, I think when you pay for a first class service you expect not only a first class result but a first class experience.  Even for those individuals who say, let me bite the bullet and suffer for 15 minutes of hell, I say, “Why?”.  I have done enough individuals who come to us having gone elsewhere who were truly worried about their experience with us.  I can see the fear in their eyes of having it done again.  

That leads me to my second point.  Even if you don’t mind to go through discomfort, remember that hair loss is progressive and you might need another round in the future.  If that is the case, do you want to spend the next 5 to 15 years worrying about the next session?  Those are my two big reasons that I built a 5000 square foot surgery center to give you a little IV sedation so that you feel NOTHING during our procedure.  I would tell you probably less than 5% (or even less than that) of hair transplant clinics have done that.  This is a first class outfit from beginning to end.  Just wanted to touch upon one small but very important aspect of your experience with us.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago from this outfit that purportedly helps to diagnose hair loss using a genetic test.  I am always wary since currently the understanding of hair loss is polygenic, i.e., it can occur due to different genes or multiple genes and can have different degrees of expression, i.e., even if you have the gene you may or may not manifest the condition physically.  I thought it was also interesting since our website is “hairtx” as in short for hair transplant or hair texas and theirs is “hairdx” which is short for hair diagnosis (as you may or may not know the x is a short hand for several things in the medical field.)  I do not endorse or support this site but am curious to know if any of you have any opinions on it.

Emina does a video to help our patients know how to effectively remove scabs a week following hair transplant.  Removing scabs will help make the transplanted area look good but also to help the area effectively heal. This can only be done a week following a hair restoration procedure.  It is easiest to show a patient how to do this 10 days after hair transplant when they are getting their sutures removed.  Hope you find this video helpful!
