The most important thing is, of course, medical and aesthetic competence. However, given those obvious issues, I think the thing I enjoyed most was the professional, upbeat attitude of every individual I met. Everyone always called me by name and shook my hand when possible. I love Dr. Lam's consistently professional, friendly and energetic manner. Emina has been terrific from the very first meeting, more than a year ago, through our most recent meeting. She is professional and consistently communicates competence and caring.
I think the news story, the volume of information available on the Internet, the general appearance of the office and, even, Dr. Lam's appearance in D Magazine come together to provide comfort that the practice is legitimate and trustworthy. I went to Dr. Lam after 4 previous experiences. Although the previous
grafts were successful, it was not a very esthetic result but I just
assumed that was the case w/ hair grafts. In addition the previous experiences
were uncomfortable. I always left in bandages and was told not to hand
wash my hair for approx. two weeks. This made it very difficult to style
which made the grafts more visible. I was assured this wouldn't be the
case with Dr. Lam. Dr. Lam, Emina and their staff performed the procedure
on a Friday, I went home that evening without any bandages and had very
little discomfort and virtually undetecable grafts, as I recall I only
took a capsule of Tylenol that evening. I didn't wash my hair on Saturday,
but went about my day as normal. On Sunday I washed and styled my hair
as I always did on a daily basis and it was impossible to tell I had
the procedure done. The procedure itself was totally painless and 6
months later the results are perfect. I no longer have the " Ive
had grafts look". I can style my hair as I want without anyone
being able to tell. It was a totally positive experience and should
I ever need grafts in the future, I would go nowhere else but Dr. Lam
Dr. Lam and Emina were nothing but the best. The first time I had hair
restoration, it was painful and the swelling seemed to stay for a long
time. The staff at Dr. Lam's office does nothing but the best. I
was pain-free and the results were amazing. The staff here took great
care of me. All the questions and concerns were all answered with talking
to Emina and Dr.Lam. When coming out of surgery, I've always had
a tough time with the anesthesia....in this case they were extra helpful
with my recovery. I had no problems that followed. Now with knowing
how well the procedure went, I will be able to have more self confidence

I just had my procedure done yesterday and have been pain-free throughout.
It was a very calm and relaxing environment and i felt very comfortable
and was assured I would be given anything i needed to avoid any discomfort.
i am very pleased with the results and expect the gradual regrowth to
be less noticeable to colleagues since it wil be a gradual progression.
Everything has worked out perfectly and Dr. Lam and his staff are consummate
professionals.
I am extremely satisfied with the transplant results here at Lam Facial
Plastics. I had two transplants about 20 years ago, and they were not
symmetrical and badly done. As a result I wore a hair piece which was
also unsatisfactory. Two years ago I came to Dr. Lam and I couldn't
be more pleased. He and Emina are artists with grafting and I would

When I was about 35 years old I started to realize my hair was becoming
very thin. Female pattern baldness runs in my family but I never thought
it would happen to me. I am sure that any woman that has experienced
any type of hair thinning can relate to the feelings of being stared
at, feeling less attractive, and less self confident being so self aware
of your hair thinness that you always try to stay in the background
where you wouldn't be noticed. In 2003 I discovered a hair prosthesis
and began to wear hairpieces that were bonded to my scalp. It was real
hair and covered my thin spot and people would say ''you can't tell
it's not your hair'', but I could tell. In October of 2006 through a
good friend I was introduced to Emina Karamanovski at the Lam Institute
for Hair Restoration. From the first time we talked I felt comfortable
and excited about the possibility of having my own hair again. In November
I had my hairpiece removed and started the preparation for having my
hair transplant. In February 20, 2007 I flew to Texas and met the staff
of the Lam Institute and again knew immediately that I was in good hands.
They made me feel that I was their only client and gave me their undivided
attention. After surgery I had only minimal discomfort with a slight
forehead swelling that resolved in 4 to 5 days. Follow up calls were
made and are still being made so that I've never felt as though I was
alone in this process. I am now 8 months post recovery, and I have my
own hair with more regrowth noticeable every day. I now have options
of how to style my hair, and I no longer hide in the background. Having
the hair transplant has changed my life and I will be forever grateful
to Emina and the staff of the Lam Institute.

Trapped by your hair or lack thereof? Imagine feeling that:
- You had to put on a cap if there was the slightest breeze when you went outdoors.
- You had to avoid getting a few raindrops on your hair.
- You had to find the right parking spot with respect to the wind so your hair wouldn’t be blown the wrong way.
- You had to use hairspray every day.
- You had to carry a comb, small mirror, and a little hairspray so you could slip off and fix you hair upon arrival somewhere.
That was me a year ago. For years my hair was getting thinner and my comb-over was getting longer. I was entering stage four baldness and I didn’t like it but I felt there wasn’t much I could do about it.
My life changed the day I visited the Lam Institute for Hair Restoration to see if I was a candidate for a hair transplant. I was truly excited when Dr. Lam and Emina Karamanovski indicated that I could look forward to getting rid of my comb-over and having a nice looking head of hair. My goal was to not look bald and have hair that didn’t require a lot of attention…………just run my fingers or a comb through it and go. The result far exceeded my expectations. What these skilled physicians did was truly a work of art. This has been the single best thing I have done for my own personal wellness in the past ten years.
The hair transplant process was as pleasant as the outcome. The staff at the Lam Institute is highly skilled, friendly, accommodating and has the highest of standards. The facilities are immaculate and are state of the art technically, functionally, and esthetically right down to every detail. This provided a pleasant environment for a great experience. I lead an active life style and like to be outdoors. Now I can do as I please…. wind, rain, or shine and my hair requires no time. I just jump in the shower, wash my hair, dry it off with a towel and comb it. That’s it.
No more time consuming hair care………..shampoo, conditioner, blow drying, hair spray, mirrors. I have complete freedom to do anything and never have to worry about how my hair looks. Best of all, I’ll never have to worry about looking bald.
Life is indeed good. I never wear a cap unless I want to. I love the wind blowing through my hair. I like walking in the rain. With a fifty cent comb in my pocket my hair always looks great and I am set for anything.

“As a woman, I inherited my baldness from my mother. I had grown up watching my mother and her sister cope with hairpieces and eventually full wigs, which was the only option they had in the 1950s and 1960s. I consulted several doctors and dermatologists, and they all told me there was nothing that I could do to prevent my hair loss – it was in my genes. Not a prognosis that a woman wants to hear! When I reached the point where I could no longer style my hair to disguise my hair loss, I was determined that I would not wear a wig. My hairdresser told me that great improvements had been made in hair transplants and they could be quite natural looking.
So, how does one go about finding a well-qualified physician to perform this procedure? There are many plastic surgeons in the Dallas area, but hair transplants seemed to be a sideline, as in, “Oh, by the way, I also do hair transplants.”
During a Google search, my husband found Dr. Lam who specializes in this procedure. His credentials looked very impressive, so I made an appointment for a consultation and met him and his associate, Emina Karamanovski, and toured his beautiful facility. I felt comfortable with both of them; and, in fact, Dr. Lam’s entire staff is first rate. I was evaluated and the procedure was thoroughly explained step by step along with what I could expect. A few days later, a date for the procedure was set.
I arrived at the surgery center and was immediately put at ease. I snuggled into a Frette robe, sat in a comfortable chair, and an anesthetic was administered which completely relaxed me. The hair grafts were taken in the morning and after a nice lunch, the grafts were implanted while I watched a movie. I never experienced any pain. When they were finished, I was given detailed instructions on what precautions I needed to take the next few days and I went home. Also, Dr. Lam and Emina would be available at all times should I have any questions or concerns.
It has now been nine months since I had the transplant, and I am pleased with the results. I’m also glad that this option was available for me. From start to finish, Dr. Lam and his staff provided their considerable expertise, knowledge, and professionalism to make the entire experience a pleasant one.”

In truth, I remember very little of that process and attribute most of it to the skill in which he completed it. The healing process was precisely as explained both verbally and in documentation provided to me prior to surgery. I had very little pain and discontinued Tylenol after just a few days. I was particularly surprised that both Dr. Lam and Emina took time out of their busy schedules to personally contact me to insure that the healing process was continuing and to determine if I had any questions. This personal touch and professionalism went beyond my expectations and insured that I had chosen the best care available. Dear Prospective Client: I highly recommend Dr. Lam and Ms. Karamanovski for hair transplant services. I had had one surgery two years ago and thought the doctor was fine. I would have probably gone with this doctor again except he no longer practices in this area. Upon the consultation with Dr. Lam and Ms. Karamanovski, the difference between my previous doctor became immediately apparent. For a woman, hair loss can be devastating. Having one's hair restored means having one's self esteem restored. My experience at the Lam institute was very good. The surgery was sucessful and there were no complications and no pain. The procedure went very smoothly. The recovery period was fast with minor discomfort but no pain. I am certainly pleased that I had this done. Had I known how easy it would be, I would not have waited so long. Hair restoration definitely works. The results take time, but are worth it. ML
