The hairline and central midscalp
hair density serve as indisputably the most important aesthetic area
for hair restoration. A naturally created hairline should appear absolutely
undetectable even at close inspection, exhibiting the hallmarks of an
irregularly irregular distribution that mimics a jagged and serpentine
coastline (Quicktime | Windows
Media). The hair angles must be consistently low relative to the
scalp in order to camouflage the graft insertion point into the scalp
and in order to increase the shadow effect onto the scalp. These tightly
interlocked (and non-splaying) grafts will gradually create a wall of
hair as the looser, irregular hairline transitions into the stronger
central midscalp region. The most important area to restore in the midscalp
is the central forelock, a region that lies immediately behind the hairline
zone and occupies the central anterior portion of the midscalp. The
central forelock creates a strong visual hair density when viewed from
almost any anterior angle.
We offer four stages of hair restoration according to the number of
hairs needed to be restored. Each stage has a range of numbers from
low to high reflecting variations in one's natural hair density.
Stage
1 (1000-1600 hairs)
Stage 2 (1600-2800 hairs)
Stage 3 (2800-3900 hairs)
Stage 4 (3900-5200 hairs)

(Corrective Procedure: The patient had 4 prior hair transplants elsewhere leaving him with unsightly grafts that were poorly angled [too perpendicular], improper graft sizes placed [too large] along the hairline, and grafts that were roughly handled leading to kinky growth as well as moderate see-through effect. He is shown after a single correction of his prior transplant in the hairline, central forelock, vertex transition point and upper crown/vertex.)

This individual underwent a previous hair restoration session elsewhere
and was unhappy with his result.
His before photograph shows an unnatural hairline, poor hair density
and unnatural hair angle and

(Corrective Procedure)
This individual underwent previous hair restoration elsewhere and exhibits
a "pluggy" look with grafts that are too large for the hairline
as well as improper angle placement and poor hair density. He is shown
with de-emphasis grafting to eliminate the artificial appearance, to
create a natural hairline, and to restore lost hair density in one session.
