Top 10 Things People Worry about After a Fat Transfer (During the Recovery Period)
When I call one of my patients the night following a fat transfer procedure, I usually mention the top few things that can make them alarmed that will resolve over the period of the next couple of weeks. Here is that list:
- Your cheeks will look like chipmunks. That will resolve.
- Your cheeks and parts of your face will feel hard. That will resolve.
- You will not be able to smile well due to the hardness in your face. That will resolve.
- Your brows will look like Neanderthals. That will resolve.
- Your lips will look “like an old lady’s”, i.e., thinner. That will resolve.
- Your folds near your mouth can look worse. That will resolve.
- Your chin can look like Jay Leno’s or be in a shape that you do not like. That will resolve.
- Your face may look larger on one side or another. That will resolve.
- Your face will swell more in a day or so and can even fluctuate in size for the first 7 to 10 days. That will resolve.
- You will not recognize yourself. That will resolve.
As you see from the litany above, all things will resolve over time.
