The AAFPRS is the world’s largest specialty association comprising over 2,700 facial plastic surgeons and is recognized in the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates as a National Medical Specialty Society.  Dr. Lam has achieved the status of a Fellow member in the AAFPRS. Diplomate

No, Dr. Lam is not an ambassador!  The term diplomate (pronounced di-PLO-mat) refers to an individual who is board certified.  Typically, the word diplomate is followed by a description of the board through which the physician is board certified.  Diplomate should not be confused with diplomat (pronounced the same way).  Merriam-Webster defines “diplomat” as “one employed or skilled in diplomacy”, and “diplomate” as “a person who holds a diploma, especially , a physician qualified to practice in a medical specialty by advanced training and experience in a specialty followed by passing an intensive examination by a national board of senior specialists.”  Therefore, physicians who spell “diplomate” without an “e” are spelling this type of “diplomate” incorrectly. Morphing

Morphing refers to changing shape and is an abbreviated way of talking about digital photographic programs that permit projected images of a proposed change in facial shape to facilitate communication with a prospective patient so that person can see how the surgeon would like to make a certain change in facial feature.  Dr. Lam uses his morphing program exclusively to show proposed changes in nasal profile and chin and neck profiles.  He believes that other morphing techniques can be misleading and not instructive to his prospective patients. This is the city in which Dr. Lam’s practice and surgery center are situated.  Wikepedia defines Plano as “a wealthy suburb of Dallas, Texas, located to the north, mainly within Collin County, but also extending into Denton County.  According to the 2000 US Census, the city population was 222,030, making it the ninth largest city in Texas.  According to the 2005 census estimate, Plano had grown to 250,096 making Plano the 69th most populous city in the United States.  Plano is within the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area, colloquially referred to as the Metroplex.  It is the home to many corporate headquarters, including Perot Systems, Electronic Data Systems, Frito-Lay, Cinemark Theatres, UGS, and JC Penney.  In 2005, Plano was the best place to live in the Western United States by CNN Money magazine.  In 2006, Plano was selected as the 11th best place to live in the United States by CNN Money magazine.  In addition to its many industries and good-quality living, Plano has excellent schools that consistently score in the top few percent of the nation.” Esta é a cidade onde o Dr. Lam prática do centro cirúrgico e estão situadas. The term “plastic surgery” comes from the Greek word “plastikos” meaning to mold or to shape, which is the objective in plastic surgery whether cosmetic or reconstructive in nature.  The word “plastic” in this case has nothing to do with the synthetic polymer, plastic.  Dr. Lam uses the term “plastics” as in the title of this website as an informal abbreviation for the full term “plastic surgery.” O termo "cirurgia plástica" vem da palavra grega "plastikos" significado para moldar ou em forma determinada, que é o objectivo em cirurgia plástica reconstrutora se cosméticos ou na natureza.
