RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

This gentleman sustained an injury from a paintball game and developed two conspicuous pseudoaneurysms of his right superficial temporal artery, which were diagnosed by clinical evaluation. He underwent stair-step incisions overlying each pseudoaneurysm with isolation, proximal and distal ligature control, and excision of each. He is shown 1 year after excision with excellent cosmesis and without recurrence.

This woman sustained left facial injury from
a prior procedure done elsewhere and underwent a reconstruction of her
left facial defect along with full facial fat grafting to rejuvenate the
face and at the same time restore symmetry and balance.

This woman underwent MOHs resection of a recurrent basal cell carcinoma
of the nose with consequent loss of all three layers of her left nose.
She underwent a three-staged reconstruction of her nose to rebuild the outer
layer using her forehead tissue, ear and nose cartilage to reconstruct the
framework, and septal mucosal flaps to restore the inner nasal lining.

This man had a left nasal basal cell carcinoma removed via MOHs surgery
and is left with a defect. He underwent a "bilobed flap" reconstruction
in one stage to restore the shape to his nose.

This woman had a basal cell carcinoma of
the left inner part of her eyelid that was removed via MOHs surgery and
then reconstructed with a one-stage"rhombic flap".

This woman was abused by her father when
she was a baby and is shown with marked facial asymmetry owing to the
right-sided bony deformity from the injury and facial atrophy of the right
side of her face from the nerve damage. Dr. Lam performed 5 procedures
for this woman as charity to rebuild her face. She underwent a
tarsal strip and gold weight insertion to help her right-eyelid closure.
She had silicone micro treatments to her left smile line to restore
symmetry and also underwent lip revision of her right upper lip to remove
atrophic tissues. She had a Contour threadlift on the right side
to lift some descended tissues. Most importantly, she underwent
facial fat grafting of her right upper face to correct the facial atrophy
and to restore balance. She also had fat grafting to the left lower
face in order to balance the bony deformity on the right lower side.

This man had a squamous cell carcinoma
of the left side of the face that required neck exploration (performed
by another surgeon) to evaluate for any related disease. Dr. Lam
performed a cheek rotation "bilobed flap" to correct the defect, and the
patient is shown shortly after the procedure.

This man had a basal cell carcinoma of
the left side of his nose that was resected via MOH's surgery, which left
him with a through-and-through nasal defect. He underwent a three-layered,
two-stage reconstruction using forehead tissue to reline the outer layer
of the nose, ear and septal cartilage to restore the framework, and a
septal mucosal flap to rebuild the inner nasal lining.

This woman had a basal cell carcinoma that
was resected via MOHs surgery leaving her with an absent nasal tip and
a defect extending onto her right cheek as well as a through-and-through
defect of her right nostril. She underwent a three-staged nasal
reconstruction that involved a forehead flap to rebuild the outer portion
of her nose, an ear cartilage-skin graft to reline the inner two layers
of the right lower nostril, and a right cheek rotation flap to close the
cheek defect.

This woman had a basal cell carcinoma that
eroded her entire nasal tip almost completely down to her face along with
sizable defects left by a right-cheek/lip squamous cell carcinoma and
a left-cheek/lip basal cell carcinoma. Dr. Lam performed this reconstruction
as a charity case. She underwent cheek advancement flaps to reconstruct
the combined upper-lip and cheek defects. She also had a two-staged
nasal reconstruction using forehead tissue to reline the outer layer of
the nose, a hinged septal mucosal cartilage graft to restore the three-dimensional
loss of her nasal tip and ear cartilage grafts to rebuild the lost nasal
framework.
This woman had a tumor removed from the right side of her face that
damaged the upper part of the nerve that moves her face. Dr. Lam performed
a right-sided minimal-incision browlift and right-sided upper eyelid procedure
to help her achieve more symmetry. She is shown one year after the reconstruction.

This 83-year-old gentleman is shown on the left following a Moh's excision for squamous cell carcinoma on the right bridge of his nose near the inner part of the eye. He is shown 3 months after cheek advancement flap reconstruction.
