Botox for Pain

Conveniently located to serve Dallas and Plano, TX

Botox can provide almost instant relief for most types of pain from migraines, jaw pain, shoulder, neck, back, finger, knee, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis pain, etc. Dr. Lam has literally invented a new way of performing this technique that provides instant and durable results. Of course, he is not fixing the underlying problem that is causing the pain, but only the pain. You will have to experience his method to believe how well it can work.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain has become a longstanding problem for so many sufferers who are faced with a bleak future. Dr. Lam himself suffers from TMJ problems and receives his own therapy. He has invented a very unique way of managing chronic pain by targeting the nerve pathway with almost instantaneous results that can last months and over time in many individuals require less and less intervention and oftentimes less frequently. He has managed almost every joint and muscle issue over most of the body including the head, neck, shoulders, fingers, wrists, knees, ankles, and foot pain but has more limited results in the central back region. He emphasizes that he is only treating the pain and not the underlying problem so you should seek proper counseling and intervention from your physician and he also encourages you not to believe the problem is fixed so that you go out and injure the area from the pain relief.

FAQs

How is Dr. Lam’s method different from other providers using Botox for migraines and other types of pain?

Dr. Lam has invented a technique that is profoundly different for pain management than what is being offered when it comes to Botox for pain. First of all, there are very few practitioners who perform Botox for pain management, and the few who do usually are only treating migraines with wide field administration and with poor results. The technique that Dr. Lam has invented involves a very targeted solution toward pain where he can virtually eliminate the pain instantaneously without need for a lot of Botox. Traditional methods of Botox administration for pain, for example for migraines, involves a large quantity dispersed over the region of pain compared with Dr. Lam’s technique which specifically targets the area of pain. This method is far more effective with near instant results. As far as Dr. Lam knows, no one in the world performs his technique, which he has published and lectured on but adoption and understanding are still limited in the worldwide community.

What areas has he had success with using Botox for pain?

The most classic areas that Dr. Lam treats regularly with his unique method involves migraine, TMJ (jaw), neck, and shoulder pain. He has, however, very successfully treated multiple other areas of the body including the knees, feet, wrists, fingers, and ankles. He has more limited success with larger muscle groups like the hips and lower back but has successfully treated these areas as well.

How much relief should I experience with his Botox for pain technique?

The goal is complete elimination of pain instantly that will in most cases last several months with the hope that repeated treatments will lead to progressively more durable and longer-lasting results. However, with chronic pain, there simply are no guarantees. Sometimes, there is substantive pain relief but then some other areas flare up that were not irritating you but become more apparent after the main areas have been managed. That is why Dr. Lam always informs you that you may need to come back in a week or so for a touchup, which he will perform without charge. The goal is complete elimination but the best he may be able to offer you is only partial improvement but with time there may be ongoing reduction of pain with longer periods of relief.

How often would I need to see him to treat my pain with Botox?

If your pain is severe, the first time the relief may last less than 2 months. If that is the case, you will still need to pay for a second session. However, in Dr. Lam’s experience most people who only last a relatively short time period will overcome this problem and have progressive lengthening of their pain relief. That being said, most individuals will last about 3 to 4 months for the first treatment and he usually recommends to schedule you at 3 months following the first interval. If you return with very minimal pain, he will extend you to 4 to 6 months for the next treatment. However, if you are mainly having discomfort at the 3-month mark, he will probably have you return in another 3 months. If you are in severe pain at 3 months, he will shorten your interval by one month typically. The goal is to have minimal pain when you return to see him so that he can lengthen your time period of treatment. You do not want to be at near full pain levels when you return for your next visit for two reasons: 1) you do not want to suffer 2) there is less chance that he can lengthen your treatment session intervals.

What are the risks of being treated with Botox for pain?

There really are no long-term risks except what was mentioned is that Dr. Lam is not treating the underlying problem, so you do not want to overuse that body part and cause a problem. It is always advisable to seek professional help from a physician who specializes in the area of your body where you are experiencing pain to make sure that Dr. Lam’s treatments would be appropriate for you.

Can I continue to get steroid injections into my area that hurts from my orthopedic surgeon or provider?

Yes, but the goal is to not have repeated steroid injections, which can break down tissues over time. Botox treatments should not do that to your body tissues.

Is there a chance that this method won’t work for me?

That is always the case. As mentioned, larger muscle groups, especially the back, are harder to treat areas for durable outcomes but Dr. Lam is always happy to try to treat the area. Also, sometimes when you think the Botox is not working, Dr. Lam just needs to re-evaluate what is going on and adjust his method or add additional Botox to treat the area.

How does Dr. Lam charge for a specific treatment? Does he charge per unit of Botox?

Dr. Lam charges per muscle area, for example, scalp, neck, etc., are each charged separately.

Does insurance cover my treatments?

In short, no. Dr. Lam does not accept insurance. However, once you have tried his unique method you will experience a relief most likely beyond anything you have felt before and that can be provided by anyone else.
