Botox Therapy
Botox is a potent therapy to manage active acne in individuals who do not want to take Accutane or in those who are failing Accutane. Even in mild cases of acne for both adolescents and adults, Dr. Lam believes that Botox offers a very safe and effective method of improving but not necessarily eliminating acne and certain types of acne scarring. Dr. Lam divides the types of acne scarring into three types: small, medium, and large. For smaller acne scars that resemble more textural problems, Botox is superior to any other method of addressing the problem and can be part of a long-term solution in all skin types providing a durable and long-lasting result. It is also incredibly safe long term. However, for larger types of acne scarring, Botox will most likely not provide enough improvement. In these cases, Dr. Lam uses a combination of microsilicone injections for larger scars and radiofrequency microneedle for medium scarring problems. Nevertheless, Botox can be an important part of a regimen for managing active acne and mild scarring including textural problems.
